SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (Interstat) — Chase Herrell and three relievers combined for a no-hitter Thursday as Southern California shut out Cal Poly 4-0 at Robin Baggett Stadium.

Herrell, the Trojans’ top star, struck out five over five perfect innings. Adam Troy, Gavin Lauridsen and Sax Matson completed the feat with four hitless frames, fanning four more.

The Trojans scored all their runs without a hit in the third inning, capitalizing on wild pitches and a sacrifice fly. Kevin Takeuchi added an RBI triple in the seventh.

Southern California improved to 8-0. Cal Poly fell to 4-4. The teams continue their series Friday.
