Spartans, Hatters Set for Midweek Clash

DELAND, Fla. (Interstat) — The South Carolina Upstate Spartans visit the Stetson Hatters in a nonconference baseball game Wednesday afternoon.

First pitch is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026, at Melching Field at Conrad Park. The game will be played in the evening.

The Spartans (4-4) enter after a dominant 17-1 win over NJIT on Sunday. A key performer in that victory, right-hander Max Bianchini, is a player to watch. He tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out four. Offensively, shortstop Maloy Heaghney went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs in the rout.

Stetson (3-5) is also coming off a high-scoring win, having defeated Monmouth 14-8 on Sunday. Designated hitter Yohann Dessureault led the charge, going 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Dessureault has been a bright spot for the Hatters, collecting six hits in his last four games.

Both teams have experienced uneven starts to the season. South Carolina Upstate has shown explosive offense, scoring 17 runs in a game twice, but also has losses by margins of six and nine runs. Stetson has dropped series to Florida and Minnesota but secured a narrow 6-5 win over Virginia last Saturday.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Wednesday’s contest is projected to be a tight one, with a final score of South Carolina Upstate 4, Stetson 3.

Following this matchup, South Carolina Upstate begins a three-game series at Georgia Southern on Friday. Stetson opens a weekend series at home against Fordham on Friday.
