Tulane, New Orleans Set for Crosstown Clash at Convention Center

NEW ORLEANS (Interstat) — The Tulane Green Wave will look to extend their winning momentum against the struggling New Orleans Privateers in a crosstown matchup Tuesday at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. under cloudy skies with temperatures around 52 degrees.

Tulane (5-2) enters riding a three-game winning streak after sweeping a weekend series against Harvard. The Green Wave offense erupted for 29 runs in the three games, including an 11-1 victory Sunday. Shortstop KaiKea Harrison drove in four runs in that win, while left fielder Tye Wood added two RBIs.

The Privateers (2-5) have dropped five of their last six, including a 9-1 loss to Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday. New Orleans has been outscored 54-38 this season.

A key matchup will feature Tulane right-hander Jack Frankel, coming off a strong start, against New Orleans righty Reid Leonard. Frankel earned the win Sunday, allowing one earned run over seven innings with three strikeouts against Harvard. Leonard took the loss in his last outing against Louisiana-Monroe, surrendering two earned runs on five hits over five innings.

Interstat’s game simulator projects an 8-3 victory for Tulane.

The Green Wave’s early success has been fueled by consistent offense, scoring at least six runs in five of their seven games. New Orleans’ pitching staff will be tested, having allowed nine or more runs in four contests this season.

Following Tuesday’s game, Tulane travels to face South Alabama on Wednesday. New Orleans will host Southern on Wednesday.
