Bradley at UNLV
LAS VEGAS (Interstat) — The Bradley Braves will look to salvage the finale of their three-game series against the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels on Sunday afternoon at Earl Wilson Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. local time under clear skies with temperatures around 52 degrees.
UNLV (4-2) has taken the first two games of the series, winning 12-9 on Friday and 13-5 on Saturday. The Rebels’ offense has produced 25 runs on 28 hits in the two victories. Bradley (1-5) seeks its first win since a 7-6 victory at Bethune-Cookman on Feb. 15, having lost five straight.
A key rematch on the mound is anticipated. Bradley’s Gavin Thompson, who took the loss Saturday despite a strong relief appearance, is a player to watch. The right-hander entered in the third inning and threw 4 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out five. He could be called upon for significant innings again Sunday.
UNLV will counter with Parker Dillhoff, who earned the win in Saturday’s contest. Dillhoff started and worked five innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits while striking out 10 Braves batters. His availability and role for Sunday’s game will be pivotal for the Rebels’ pitching staff.
Bradley’s offense, led by AJ Garcia and Michael Quick in Saturday’s loss, aims for a breakout. UNLV’s Ayden Garcia, who drove in four runs Saturday, looks to continue his hot hitting.
Projections are split. Interstat’s game simulator predicts an 8-6 Bradley victory, while its ELO rating system gives UNLV a 70.2% probability to win.
Following the series, Bradley travels to face Tennessee-Martin for a three-game set starting Feb. 27. UNLV hosts Western Michigan for a two-game midweek series beginning Tuesday.
