MELBOURNE, Australia (Interstat) — The Illawarra Hawks defeated the Melbourne United 100-91 in National Basketball League play Sunday at John Cain Arena, overcoming a heavy pregame projection favoring the home side. Illawarra established control with a strong first half, leading 54-45 at halftime, and maintained a steady advantage throughout. JaVale McGee led the Hawks with 22 points and 13 rebounds.
