Differences From v3
• NatStat API v4 establishes a hierarchical endpoint structure. The three primary endpoints are teams, games, players.
• Secondary endpoints include boxscores, elo, events, forecasts, lineups, moneyline, news, officials, overunder, pitchfx, playbyplay, playerperfs, pointspread, projline, simulations, stats, teamperfs, text, transactions, venues, videos, winprob. The text endpoint is a new addition that includes generated game previews and summaries from Interstat Pressroom.
• Secondary endpoints can still be used on their own, but this version introduces the concept of stackable endpoints. Adding a semicolon to a call to a primary endpoint, followed by comma-separated secondary endpoint(s), will hydrate the API response with additional nodes. For example: https://api4.natst.at/xxxx-xxxxxx/games;forecasts,lineups,pbp/nba/1507366 will return basic information for an NBA game, plus all its game forecasts, lineup analysis and play-by-play entries.
• Six endpoints are now categorized as reference endpoints. datastatus returns metadata for any of NatStat's 30 data services across five sports, and includes known data issues. seasons provides metadata for current, past and future seasons within a data service. teamcodes, gamecodes, playercodes offer code lookups for the three primary endpoints. glossary returns a detailed dictionary of all player and team statistics utilized within a given data service.
• Queries are backward-compatible from NatStat API v3, but may return less data. Please give a full review to this new documentation. Then, adjust your queries accordingly to make use of the more flexible methods available in NatStat API v4.
