Obera at Lanús
BUENOS AIRES (Interstat) — Lanús will host Obera on Friday at Estadio Obras Sanitarias, with both teams seeking their first win of the season.
Lanús enters with a 0-1 record after a 92-74 home loss to Gimnasia Indalo in its most recent game. Obera also sits at 0-1 following a 96-73 road loss at Boca Juniors in its last outing. The game gives each club an early opportunity to even its record and gain footing before a demanding stretch of the schedule.
Obera will be the visiting team in Buenos Aires. The club is set to play Racing de Chiv at home, then travel to Platense and San Lorenzo. Obera also is scheduled to visit Defensor Sporting and Flamengo before returning home for games against Paisas Basket, Independiente, Argentino de Junin, Atenas and Independiente again. Those contests will test the team’s depth and ability to manage travel.
Lanús returns home after opening the season with a loss. The club’s upcoming schedule includes a home game against Peñarol, followed by road games at Independiente, Instituto Cordoba and Atenas. Lanús also is set to host Regatas Corrientes and San Martin, then visit Olimpico and Quimsa before hosting La Union and traveling to Argentino de Junin. The home stand and road trips will give Lanús chances to establish consistency on both ends of the floor.
The matchup at Estadio Obras Sanitarias will bring together two teams still searching for rhythm. Lanús will try to use its home court and inside presence to control the game. Obera will look to counter with perimeter shooting and pressure defense. Both sides are aiming to avoid an 0-2 start and build confidence before the next set of games.
The squads are at the start of a long schedule, and each game carries weight as teams sort out rotations and roles. Lanús has the advantage of playing at home, while Obera must manage the travel and adjust to the arena. The contest is expected to feature a matchup of teams looking to establish an identity. Lanús will aim to protect the ball and finish possessions. Obera will seek to force turnovers and turn them into scoring chances.
Lanús and Obera have little margin for error in the early portion of the season. A win would provide a needed boost, while a loss would keep either team searching for consistency. The game is part of a busy run for both sides, with several home and road tests ahead. The contest is one of several early-season games for both clubs.
Interstat’s game simulator projects Lanús to defeat Obera 87-82.
