JEREZ DE GARCÍA SALINAS, Mexico (Interstat) — Leon will visit Zacatecas on Thursday in Mexican LNBP basketball at Marcelino Gonzalez. Zacatecas is the home team, while Leon enters as the visitor.

Leon brings a 5-11 record into the matchup. Zacatecas is 10-6. The game is part of the Mexican LNBP schedule and will be played in Jerez de García Salinas, Mexico.

Alahjan Banks is a player to watch for Leon. Banks is coming off a 19-point, eight-assist, three-block performance in Leon’s 92-78 win over San Luis Potosi. He also had eight points, two rebounds, three assists and one block in Leon’s 87-86 loss to San Luis Potosi. Davonte Gaines added 21 points and three rebounds in the win, while Giovanni Santiago had 13 points, five rebounds and nine assists. Leon’s most recent result was a 92-78 home victory over San Luis Potosi, with Banks, Gaines and Santiago leading the way. Leon has struggled this season, winning five of its first 16 games.

Romeao Ferguson is a player to watch for Zacatecas. Zacatecas is coming off an 84-81 win at Lobos Plateados, and Ferguson finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Angelo Cisneros added 14 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one block, while Joaquin Valinotti had 16 points, five rebounds and five assists. Ferguson also had 15 points, four rebounds, three assists and one block in a 91-68 loss at Lobos Plateados. He posted 13 points, five rebounds and 11 assists in an 87-85 win over Gambusinos, and 20 points, five rebounds and one assist in a 96-89 loss to Gambusinos. He scored 20 points with six rebounds and four assists in an 87-84 loss at Fuerza Regia, then had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists in a 101-100 win at Fuerza Regia. Ferguson has reached double figures in scoring in each of his past six games, adding at least four rebounds in each of them and at least three assists in five of them. Zacatecas has won 10 of 16 games.

Leon’s other recent results include a 75-73 loss to Diablos Rojos, an 81-73 win over Diablos Rojos, a 106-87 win at Dorados and a 102-87 loss to Aguascalientes. Zacatecas has wins over Diablos Rojos (98-85), Dorados (92-82), Aguascalientes (98-78) and Jal. Astros (89-83), along with losses to Soles (78-71 and 84-68). The matchup features two teams looking to improve their standing in the LNBP.
