WINNIPEG (Interstat) — Xavier Moon and the Winnipeg Sea Bears defeated the Hamilton Honey Badgers 98-84 on Saturday at Canada Life Centre in a Canadian Elite Basketball League game.

Hamilton built a 24-20 lead after the opening quarter, but Winnipeg outscored the Honey Badgers 26-18 in the second period and 27-18 in the third to seize control. The Sea Bears led 73-60 entering the fourth, and Hamilton could not close the gap in a 25-24 final quarter. Hamilton scored 24 points in both the first and fourth; Winnipeg’s 27 third-quarter points were its highest total of the game.

Winnipeg improved to 3-1, while Hamilton dropped to 2-3. The Honey Badgers had won consecutive games against Niagara and Ottawa before Saturday. The Sea Bears won their second straight following a loss at Fraser Valley on Aug. 2.
