Edmonton vs. Fraser Valley

LANGLEY, British Columbia (Interstat) — The Fraser Valley Bandits will look to build on a season-opening victory Thursday when they host the Edmonton Stingers at Langley Events Centre.

The Canadian Elite Basketball League matchup is set for Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026, in Langley, British Columbia. Fraser Valley enters at 1-0, while Edmonton is 0-1.

The Bandits opened their season Sunday with a 114-90 win over Winnipeg. Mitchell Creek led Fraser Valley with 28 points, six rebounds and six assists in 34 minutes. Mychal Mulder added 29 points, and Shamar Givance finished with 16 points and 18 assists.

The Stingers, meanwhile, lost their opener 96-89 to Ottawa on Sunday. Stanley Davis paced Edmonton with 25 points, six rebounds and five assists. Taye Donald added 14 points, and Nick Hornsby contributed nine points and 12 rebounds.

Thursday’s game will be the second meeting between the teams in less than a month. Fraser Valley beat Edmonton 112-94 on July 11.

Davis, a shooting guard, has been Edmonton’s most productive perimeter threat. He scored 25 points in the opener after putting up 13 against Saskatoon on July 31. He had 17 points on July 21, 20 against Niagara on July 18 and 11 at Scarborough on July 16. However, in the first meeting with Fraser Valley, Davis managed just four points in 14 minutes.

Edmonton will need more from Davis this time, especially against a Fraser Valley team that has shown strong offensive balance. The Bandits scored 114 in their opener and got scoring from multiple starters.

Creek, a power forward, is a central piece for Fraser Valley. His 28-point, six-rebound, six-assist performance against Winnipeg included one block. Givance’s 18 assists showed the Bandits’ ability to move the ball, and Mulder’s 29 points give Fraser Valley another scoring option.

Edmonton’s defense will face a stiff test. The Stingers allowed 96 points in their opener and gave up 112 in the earlier loss to Fraser Valley. If Davis can approach his 25-point form and Hornsby controls the boards, Edmonton could keep the game close. But Fraser Valley’s veteran lineup and home-court advantage make the Bandits the early favorite.

The game is scheduled to be played at Langley Events Centre.
