JEREZ DE GARCÍA SALINAS, Mexico (Interstat) — Zacatecas outscored Jal. Astros 29-16 in the fourth quarter to claim an 89-83 victory Sunday, Aug. 16, in an LNBP game at Marcelino Gonzalez. Zacatecas improved to 6-0, while Jal. Astros dropped to 4-3. Zacatecas beat Jal. Astros for a second straight night after winning 94-88 on Saturday. Jal. Astros led 47-40 at halftime behind a 35-point second quarter, but the teams were even in the third and Zacatecas controlled the fourth. Paco Cruz led Jal. Astros with 24 points, six rebounds and one assist. Romeao Ferguson was Zacatecas’ top star with 17 points, six rebounds, five assists and two blocks. Kayo Goncalves added 12 points, six rebounds, two assists and seven blocks. Daishon Smith scored 19 points with three rebounds. Eugene Phelps totaled 17 points and nine rebounds. Gage Davis had 11 points, five rebounds and two assists. Yoanki Mansia added four points and 14 rebounds. Wesley Saunders scored 11 points with three rebounds and three assists. Jose Ascanio added 14 points and four rebounds. Joaquin Valinotti contributed 10 points and four assists.
