Dorados vs. Fuerza Regia
SAN PEDRO GARZA GARCÍA, Mexico (Interstat) — Dorados will look to sweep a two-game series against Fuerza Regia when the teams meet Thursday, Aug. 6, at Gimnasio Nuevo Leon in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional.
Dorados (1-1) won Wednesday’s opener 96-67. J.J. Avila, a 6-foot-8 forward, totaled 13 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in that game. In his past five games, Avila has been a consistent all-around contributor, averaging 13.4 points, 10.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists. He also scored 23 points against Diablos Rojos on Aug. 1.
Fuerza Regia (0-1) is seeking its first victory. Josue Andriassi scored 13 points in Wednesday’s loss and is expected to be a key ball-handling option. The point guard has had limited minutes in other recent games, but he remains one of the team’s most dangerous offensive threats.
Despite Fuerza Regia’s winless start, Interstat’s ELO system gives the home team an 87.4 percent probability to win Thursday’s matchup. That projection suggests the opener was not indicative of the home team’s true form.
Dorados’ other result this season was an 87-67 loss to Diablos Rojos on Aug. 1. Fuerza Regia has yet to record a victory.
The teams are scheduled to play again Thursday before Dorados hosts Gambusinos on Aug. 10 and Fuerza Regia visits Diablos Rojos on Aug. 9. But the immediate focus for both clubs is the rematch in Nuevo Leon.
