Soles vs. Fuerza Regia

SAN PEDRO GARZA GARCÍA, Mexico (Interstat) — The Mexican LNBP season continues Saturday, July 25, 2026, as the Soles face Fuerza Regia at Gimnasio Nuevo Leon in a matchup between two of the league’s top teams.

Fuerza Regia (21-8) enters with the superior record and home-court advantage. The defending champions have won five of their last six, including an 84-74 victory over Diablos Rojos on Nov. 10. Guard Scott Bamforth, point guard Avry Holmes and center Josh Ibarra led the way in that contest. Holmes, who averages 16.3 points per game, has been a steady playmaker, while Bamforth provides perimeter scoring and Ibarra anchors the paint.

The Soles (17-4) hold a better winning percentage (.810) despite fewer games played. However, they are coming off a stinging 82-75 loss at home to Aguascalientes on Oct. 17. In that defeat, guards Joshua Webster and Connor Zinaich, along with center Brandon McCoy, were the most productive players. Webster, a quick penetrator, will need to break Fuerza Regia’s pressure defense, while McCoy’s interior presence must counter Ibarra.

The head-to-head history favors Fuerza Regia, which thumped the Soles 102-81 on Sept. 9, 2025, in the most recent meeting in San Pedro. The Soles had won the previous night 97-91, but that was at home. On the road, Soles have struggled defensively, allowing an average of 96 points per game in their two trips to Gimnasio Nuevo Leon this season.

Soles have been strong overall, with notable wins at Xalapa and Leon, but they have dropped two of their last three overall. Fuerza Regia, meanwhile, has dominated at home, winning 11 of 12 contests at Gimnasio Nuevo Leon. The team’s depth showed in a 100-83 victory over Aguascalientes on Oct. 20, with balanced scoring.

Key matchups to watch: Webster vs. Holmes in the backcourt, and the battle between McCoy and Ibarra in the post. Fuerza Regia’s length and transition offense could pose problems for a Soles team that allows too many second-chance points.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time. The game will be broadcast on LNBP’s streaming platform.
