ARECIBO, Puerto Rico (Interstat) — Justin Reyes scored 17 points and the Arecibo Capitanes defeated the Aguada Santeros 100-93 on Wednesday at Manuel Iguina Coliseum in a BSN contest. Both teams entered with 18-19 records. Arecibo led 29-23 after the first quarter and took a 47-42 halftime lead. The Capitanes extended their advantage to 78-62 after three quarters before Aguada rallied with 31 points in the fourth, but Arecibo held on. Reyes added five rebounds and five assists in 21 minutes. Joel Soriano recorded a double-double for Aguada with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Rigoberto Mendoza De La Rosa also scored 17 points with seven rebounds and five assists. Derrick Walton finished with 17 points and five rebounds for Arecibo. Timothy Soares contributed 17 points and six rebounds. John Holland added 17 points for Aguada. Jake Wiley had 14 points and five rebounds for the Santeros. Alfonso Plummer recorded 10 points and six assists for Arecibo. The Capitanes improved to 19-19, while the Santeros fell to 18-20.
