BAYAMON, Puerto Rico (BSN) (Interstat) — Jezreel De Jesus scored 28 points and grabbed four rebounds to lead the Ponce Leones past the Bayamon Vaqueros 81-77 on Saturday night at Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum. De Jesus, a shooting guard from Carolina, played 39 minutes and added two assists in his second consecutive 28-point outing after scoring 43 against Aguada a day earlier.
Brady Manek posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds for Ponce, and Thomas Robinson added 16 points and six boards off the bench. The Leones improved to 15-20 on the season.
Bayamon, now 24-12, got 19 points from Jassel Perez and 17 from Stevie Thompson. Damian Jones contributed 11 points and three blocks, while Renaldo Balkman finished with nine points and three rebounds. Jordan Cintron pulled down nine rebounds to go with seven points for the Vaqueros.
Ponce shot efficiently from the floor and from beyond the arc, while Bayamon struggled from three-point range and the free-throw line. The Leones held off a late Bayamon rally to snap a two-game losing streak and split the season series, avenging a 94-91 loss at home on April 30.
