GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico (Interstat) — The Bayamon Vaqueros defeated the Guaynabo Mets 104-83 on Thursday night at Mario Morales Coliseum. Bayamon improved to 24-11 while Guaynabo fell to 12-17. The Vaqueros seized control early, outscoring the Mets 25-9 in the first quarter and led 48-32 at halftime. Bayamon poured in 39 points in the third quarter to open an 87-60 lead. Javier Mojica paced Bayamon with 17 points, four rebounds and five assists. Stevie Thompson also scored 17 points. Jordan Cintron added 15 points and five rebounds. Jassel Perez contributed 14 points. Damian Jones chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds. Gary Browne dished eight assists. Eric Ayala led Guaynabo with 12 points and nine rebounds. Jaysean Paige scored 17 points. Ryan Pearson grabbed seven rebounds and added seven points. The Mets shot poorly in the opening period and could not recover. The teams meet again Saturday in Bayamon.
