ARECIBO, Puerto Rico (Interstat) — Cheick Diallo scored 29 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Manati Atenienses to a 93-92 victory over the Arecibo Capitanes on Tuesday night at Manuel Iguina Coliseum. Diallo, a center, played 32 minutes and added one assist in his third consecutive strong outing. Jameer Nelson contributed 17 points, five rebounds and five assists, while Tyquan Rolon had 15 points and eight assists for Manati, which improved to 13-16 in the Puerto Rican BSN. Isaac Sosa chipped in 19 points, and Kristian Doolittle recorded six rebounds and six assists. For Arecibo, Derrick Walton totaled 15 points, five rebounds and 13 assists. R.J. Melendez scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and Timothy Soares added 11 points and seven rebounds. Alfonso Plummer also scored 11 points. The Capitanes fell to 16-14. Manati held off a late rally by Arecibo to secure the victory.
