Quimsa vs. Gimnasia Indalo
COMODORO RIVADAVIA, Argentina (Interstat) — Gimnasia Indalo hosts Quimsa on Thursday night at Estadio Socios Fundadores in a pivotal Liga A matchup between two of the league’s top contenders. Gimnasia Indalo enters with a 30-14 record, one game ahead of Quimsa’s 28-14 mark. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. local time.
The teams meet for the third time in six days, with Gimnasia winning both previous encounters. On Monday, Gimnasia eked out an 80-79 victory at Quimsa behind 15 points and nine rebounds from forward Anyelo Cisneros Sierra. Two days earlier, Gimnasia won 82-73 in Santiago del Estero. The home team has won each of the last four head-to-head meetings, dating to December 2025.
Quimsa will look to reverse that trend behind forward Tyren Johnson, who averaged 11 points and 4.5 rebounds in the two recent losses. Johnson has been steady through the playoffs, scoring in double figures in four of his last seven games, including 18 points in a win at Boca Juniors on May 31.
Gimnasia counters with Cisneros Sierra, who has been dominant on the glass. The 6-foot-8 forward posted a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds against Independiente on May 18, and has grabbed at least seven boards in four of his last five outings. Guard Martiniano Dato added 17 points in Monday’s win.
Both teams have been inconsistent away from home, but Gimnasia’s depth and rebounding edge could prove decisive. A win would solidify the home team’s hold on second place in the standings, while Quimsa looks to snap a two-game skid and keep pace in the tight playoff race.
