Ciudad de Mexico vs. Jal. Astros
GUADALAJARA, Mexico (Interstat) — The Jal. Astros, owners of the CIBACOPA’s best record at 69-11, host the .500 Ciudad de Mexico squad Saturday at Unidad Deportiva Avila Camacho.
The Astros have dominated the season series, winning all four prior meetings, including a 105-61 blowout on May 16 in which center Chris Perry posted 13 points and five rebounds in just 11 minutes. The Feb. 17 and 18 games in Guadalajara were similarly lopsided: a 107-74 win and an 86-73 victory.
Ciudad de Mexico (23-23) enters after an 80-78 overtime win over Tijuana on Monday, snapping a two-game slide. Forward Trahson Burrell was the catalyst, logging 44 minutes and posting 22 points, five rebounds and one assist. Across his last nine games, Burrell has averaged 17.6 points and 5.7 rebounds while playing heavy minutes. He scored 28 points in a loss at Tijuana on May 27.
Perry has been efficient for the Astros, who have won nine of their last 10. In Friday’s 105-103 win at Culiacan, the center produced 25 points and 11 rebounds while playing 28 minutes. Over his last 10 outings, Perry has averaged 11.3 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 58 percent from the field.
Saturday’s game tips off at 8 p.m. local time.
