PUERTO LA CRUZ, Venezuela (Interstat) — Malik Dime scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Michael Bryson added 16 points and seven rebounds as Anzoátegui defeated Zulia 79-77 on Thursday at Luis Ramos de Puerto La Cruz. The Marinos led 18-25 after the first quarter and 36-46 at halftime. Zulia’s Gaiteros outscored Anzoátegui 25-12 in the third quarter to take a 58-61 lead entering the fourth. The Marinos rallied with 18 points in the final period while holding the Gaiteros to 19. K.J. McDaniels contributed 12 points and five rebounds for Anzoátegui. Carlos Fulda scored 15 points and Gregory Vargas had 11 points and four assists. Nestor Colmenares added two points and four rebounds. For Zulia, the loss dropped them to 25-9 while Anzoátegui improved to 21-12. The game was the fifth meeting between the teams in the last 10 days, with each winning two previously.
