Saskatoon vs. Scarborough
SASKATOON AT SCARBOROUGH
TORONTO (Interstat) — The Scarborough Shooting Stars host the Saskatoon Mamba on Thursday afternoon at Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre in a Canadian Elite Basketball League matchup that pits the league’s top team against its lone winless squad.
Scarborough (4-1) enters riding a three-game winning streak, while Saskatoon (0-2) is seeking its first victory of the season. Tip-off is 7 p.m. ET.
The Shooting Stars feature guard Myles Powell, who is coming off a 41-point performance in a 103-101 home win over Winnipeg on Tuesday. Powell logged 33 minutes, adding four rebounds and six assists. Two nights earlier, he scored 28 points with two rebounds and five assists in a 91-87 road win at Montreal.
Saskatoon counters with guard Tavian Dunn-Martin, who has been productive despite the team’s slow start. In Tuesday’s 93-80 loss at Montreal, Dunn-Martin posted 27 points, three rebounds and four assists in 26 minutes. He also scored 30 points with four rebounds and eight assists in a 108-96 loss at Winnipeg on May 16.
Saskatoon struggled offensively at Montreal, shooting 42% from the field. DaJuan Gordon added 16 points and seven rebounds, while Karim Mane chipped in eight points and six boards.
Scarborough’s supporting cast has been reliable. Forward Frank Mitchell recorded 20 points and 14 rebounds in Tuesday’s win, and forward Akoi Yuot added 15 points and nine rebounds.
Thursday’s game is the first of two meetings this season between the clubs. They will meet again May 31 in Saskatoon.
The Shooting Stars have won four of five, with their only loss coming Aug. 10, 2025, against Montreal (Interstat) — a result from last season’s schedule. Saskatoon has lost both games this season by double digits.
Scarborough ranks among the CEBL leaders in scoring offense, averaging 98 points per game. Saskatoon is allowing an average of 100.5 points.
Both teams are in the early stages of a busy stretch. After Thursday, Scarborough travels to Calgary on May 28, while Saskatoon visits Fraser Valley on June 6.
Powell and Dunn-Martin are expected to draw defensive attention. Powell leads Scarborough in scoring, while Dunn-Martin is Saskatoon’s primary playmaker.
The Shooting Stars will look to push the pace and exploit Saskatoon’s defensive lapses. The Mamba will need better ball control and defensive rebounding to stay competitive.
Saskatoon has not won on the road this season. Scarborough is 2-1 at home.
