Car. Spartans vs. Anzoátegui

PUERTO LA CRUZ, Venezuela (Interstat) — A tense Venezuelan SLB rivalry resumes Monday when the Caracas Spartans visit the Anzoátegui Marinos at Luis Ramos de Puerto La Cruz.

The Spartans (16-9) enter having lost three consecutive head-to-head meetings to the Marinos, including a 77-71 defeat at home Friday. Anzoátegui (14-10) holds a narrow edge in the standings and looks to strengthen its hold on a playoff spot.

Spartans forward Michael Carrera is a player to watch. In Friday’s loss, he logged 29 minutes, scoring 13 points with 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. Over his last five games, Carrera has averaged 14.0 points and 7.6 rebounds, though he managed just 9 points on 3-of-11 shooting in a 69-60 road loss to Anzoátegui on April 21.

For the Marinos, guard Michael Bryson has been consistent. He posted 15 points, 8 rebounds and a block in Friday’s win at Caracas. Over his last five outings, Bryson has averaged 15.0 points, shooting 48% from the field, and has scored at least 10 points in each.

The teams are familiar foes. Anzoátegui won 69-60 at home April 21, and 71-66 on March 21. The Spartans have not beaten the Marinos since the 2025 season.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time.
