MARACAIBO (Interstat) — Elias King scored 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Maracaibo to an 80-74 victory over the Zulia Gaiteros on Monday night. Maracaibo outscored Zulia 24-14 in the third quarter to take control after trailing 44-37 at halftime. Zulia had won the previous three meetings this season, including a 97-73 rout on May 15.

The Gaiteros, who entered with the best record in the SLB at 21-4, fell to 21-5. Maracaibo improved to 13-14. King added four assists and two blocks for Maracaibo. Myke Henry contributed 14 points and four rebounds, and Delwan Graham had eight points, four rebounds and two steals. Micheal Warren led Zulia with 14 points off the bench. Nahziah Carter added 13 points, and Luis Duarte and Angel Blanco each scored 10. Both teams meet again Tuesday night.
