Obera vs. Boca Juniors
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Interstat) — Obera visits Boca Juniors on Thursday in an Argentinian Liga A matchup at Estadio Luis Conde, with both teams jockeying for position as the regular season winds down.
Boca Juniors (30-18) enters the game having won four consecutive meetings against Obera (23-15), including a 102-80 victory Monday and a 70-66 win Saturday, both on Obera’s home floor. The home team will be looking to complete a three-game sweep of the season series after splitting the earlier matchups, with Obera winning 78-62 on March 25 and 80-70 on Dec. 16, 2025.
Player to watch for Obera is forward Alejo Azpilicueta. In Monday’s loss, Azpilicueta posted 20 points and four rebounds in 17 minutes. He scored five points on May 9 against Boca and has shown inconsistency, totaling two points in a win over Peñarol on April 16 and five points in a loss to Atenas on April 19. Obera will need a more complete effort from Azpilicueta to disrupt Boca’s recent dominance.
For Boca Juniors, guard Santiago Scala has been the catalyst. He scored 21 points with four assists and one rebound in Monday’s win, following a nine-point, two-assist outing on May 9. Scala’s recent form is strong, with double-digit scoring in four of his last five games, including 14 points against San Martin on April 25 and 11 points against San Martin on April 30. He also contributed 10 points and six assists against Obras Sanitarias on April 21.
Obera has dropped three of its last four games, the lone win a 77-70 victory at Argentino de Junin on April 12. The team has struggled against top competition, falling to Atenas 82-78 on April 19. Boca has won eight of its last nine, with the only loss in that stretch a 90-81 defeat to Ferro Carril Oeste on April 11.
Tipoff is set for Thursday night in the Argentine capital.
