BRUSQUE, Brazil (Interstat) — Franca defeated Botafogo 89-79 on Saturday in a Brazilian NBB game at Arena Brusque. Franca shot 55 percent from the floor and 36.7 percent from three-point range, while Botafogo shot 43.9 percent overall and 32 percent from beyond the arc. George Lucas led Franca with 21 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Corderro Bennett scored 23 points with five rebounds. Luis Rodriguez added 15 points, and Lucas Dias Silva contributed 12 points. Mooch Jackson chipped in 10 points. For Botafogo, Paulo Henrique Scheuer had 33 points and four rebounds. Scott Machado recorded 15 points and nine assists, and Matheus Brito had six points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Franca outrebounded Botafogo 36-26 and made 12 of 14 free throws to Botafogo’s 13 of 18. Franca committed 17 turnovers, while Botafogo had eight, and Franca recorded only two assists. Franca improved to 39-10, while Botafogo fell to 10-25. The teams meet again Monday.
