Corinthians vs. Flamengo

Preview: Corinthians Looks to Continue Momentum Against Struggling Flamengo

RIO DE JANEIRO (Interstat) — A surging Corinthians squad will look to capitalize on a slumping Flamengo side when the Brazilian NBB rivals meet Wednesday at HSBC Arena.

The matchup is a tale of contrasting recent form. Corinthians (19-17) enters having won three of its last four, including a 97-88 victory over Sao Jose on Friday. Flamengo (31-17), despite its superior overall record, is mired in a three-game losing streak, most recently a 94-65 road defeat to Nacional de Montevideo on Saturday.

Corinthians will lean heavily on forward Jeremy Hollowell, who is coming off a 28-point performance in the win over Sao Jose. Over his last five games, Hollowell is averaging 16.0 points and 8.4 rebounds. He was instrumental in Corinthians’ 96-91 home win over Flamengo on March 31, posting 18 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.

For Flamengo, guard Shaquille Johnson seeks to regain his consistency. After a 20-point, 7-assist effort in a win over Botafogo on April 11, Johnson has averaged just 10.0 points over his last three outings. In the March 31 loss to Corinthians, he finished with 16 points and eight assists.

The season series is split 1-1. Following Corinthians’ five-point win last month, Flamengo will look to replicate its dominant 82-65 home victory from Dec. 18, 2025.

Corinthians’ recent success has been fueled by balanced contributions. In Friday’s win, center Devon Scott added a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds, while guard Nate Barnes chipped in 23 points.

Flamengo, meanwhile, has struggled defensively during its skid, allowing an average of 86.3 points in losses to Boca Juniors, Caxias do Sul and Nacional.

Wednesday’s result could have significant playoff positioning implications. Flamengo aims to solidify its standing near the top of the table, while Corinthians looks to continue climbing from the middle of the pack.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. local time at HSBC Arena.
