KW vs. Sudbury

GREATER SUDBURY, Ontario (Interstat) — The KW Titans look to continue their dominance over the Sudbury Five and solidify their top-tier standing in the Basketball Super League when the teams meet Tuesday night at Sudbury Community Arena.

The Titans (22-9), riding a three-game win streak, have won seven of the last eight matchups against their northern rivals this season, including a 95-92 victory just two days ago. The Five (14-12), currently clinging to a playoff position, are desperate to halt the trend and gain ground in the standings.

KW’s success has been fueled by forward Tyshon Pickett, who is averaging 22.4 points and 5.1 rebounds over his last seven games. He torched Sudbury for 27 points in a 113-104 win on April 16 and has been a consistent offensive force. The Titans have won 10 of their last 12 contests overall.

Sudbury will counter with guard Charlie Marquardt, a high-volume scorer who logged 44 minutes and 31 points in the recent loss to KW. Marquardt averages 37.6 minutes per game over his last seven outings, underscoring his critical role. The Five have shown resilience, however, winning three of their last five games not against KW.

The recent history between the clubs points to tight finishes. Four of the last five meetings have been decided by single digits, including two by just two points. Sudbury’s lone win in the stretch was a 116-113 home victory on Feb. 28, proving they can challenge the Titans on their own court.

Tuesday’s contest is the third meeting between the teams in less than a week. For Sudbury, it represents a crucial opportunity to adjust and avoid a season-series sweep on their home floor. For KW, it’s a chance to further distance themselves in the league hierarchy and continue their march toward the postseason.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT.
