BRAMPTON (Interstat) — Frank Mitchell had 15 points and 17 rebounds, and the Scarborough Shooting Stars defeated the Hamilton Honey Badgers 117-104 on Saturday in a Canadian Elite Basketball League game at CAA Center.

Scarborough (1-0) led 24-18 after the first quarter and 53-43 at halftime. Hamilton (0-1) cut the deficit to 83-78 entering the fourth, but Scarborough outscored Hamilton 34-26 in the final period.

Mitchell, the Shooting Stars’ top contributor, played 21 minutes and added four assists. Terquavion Smith scored 25 points with seven assists. Myles Powell led all scorers with 27 points. Javan Johnson scored 20 points, and Akoi Yuot had 10 points.

Sean East paced Hamilton with 16 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. Trentyn Flowers scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Tegra Izay scored 14 points, Justyn Hamilton posted 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Danilo Djuricic added seven.

The two teams meet again Monday at Scarborough.
