Saskatoon vs. Edmonton

EDMONTON, Alberta (Interstat) — The Edmonton Stingers look to build on a rare victory when they host the Saskatoon Mamba on Friday night at Edmonton Expo Center in a Canadian Elite Basketball League game.

Edmonton (11-15) snapped a two-game losing streak Sunday with a 100-89 win over Calgary. The Stingers have dropped four of their past six and remain in fifth place in the league standings, but their recent head-to-head success against Saskatoon provides a boost. Edmonton swept the two previous meetings this season — 105-103 on June 28 and 115-108 on June 24 — both by single-digit margins.

Guard Scottie Lindsey has been Edmonton’s most consistent scorer. In Sunday’s win, he posted 19 points, three rebounds and two assists in 35 minutes. Over his past seven games, Lindsey is averaging 16.4 points, including a 25-point effort at Scarborough on July 16. Forward Tre King contributed 13 points and six rebounds against Calgary, and guard Emmanuel Bandoumel added 17 points, three rebounds and three assists.

Saskatoon (7-9) enters on a two-game slide after a 104-97 loss at Fraser Valley on Saturday. The Mamba are 1-4 in their last five games and sit seventh in the standings. Guard Tavian Dunn-Martin leads the offense, scoring 27 points with three rebounds and four assists in the Fraser Valley loss. Two games earlier, he erupted for 34 points and seven assists in a 116-99 win at Calgary. Center Jaden Bediako has provided an inside presence, recording 12 points and 13 rebounds in the Fraser Valley game.

The Mamba’s recent struggles extend beyond the losing streak. They have dropped three of their four road games since late June, and their perimeter defense has faltered in tight contests. In the June 28 loss at Edmonton, Saskatoon led by 10 in the second half before allowing a late Stingers rally.

Both teams are jockeying for playoff positioning with roughly a dozen games remaining. Edmonton will rely on Lindsey and King to exploit Saskatoon’s interior defense, while the Mamba will look to Dunn-Martin to ignite transition offense. The Stingers have struggled with consistency, going 2-4 in their last six, but their home-court advantage at Edmonton Expo Center could prove decisive.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. MDT. The game will be streamed on CEBL+.
