Saskatoon vs. Calgary
CALGARY, Alberta (Interstat) — The Calgary Surge close out a three-game road swing with a return to WinSport Event Centre on Sunday, July 19, 2026, hosting the Saskatoon Mamba in a Canadian Elite Basketball League matchup.
Calgary (11-14) enters the contest on a three-game winning streak, most recently defeating Winnipeg 85-80 on July 12. The Surge have won four of their last five games, climbing within striking distance of a playoff berth in the CEBL standings. Forward David Joplin, a key contributor throughout the surge, has been a focal point. Joplin played 28 minutes in the win at Winnipeg, recording 16 points and six rebounds. He scored 19 points in a 95-80 victory over Fraser Valley on July 9 and has shown increasing consistency after a stretch of single-digit scoring outings in early July. In his last three games, Joplin is averaging 14.3 points and 4.0 rebounds.
Saskatoon (6-8) arrives having lost two straight and three of its last four. The Mamba fell 107-96 at Winnipeg on June 30, despite strong individual performances. Small forward Tevian Jones led the way with 24 points and six rebounds in 28 minutes. Point guard Tavian Dunn-Martin nearly posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 assists, while guard Jamir Chaplin added 16 points. Saskatoon’s offense has been potent — the Mamba have scored 100 or more points in six of their last nine games — but defensive lapses have been costly, allowing at least 105 points in four of their last seven.
The teams last met June 10, when Saskatoon won 94-88 at WinSport Event Centre. Saskatoon has won two of the last three meetings, though Calgary took the prior matchup in 2025.
For Calgary, maintaining momentum behind Joplin and point guard Armani Chaney — who posted 20 points and four assists against Winnipeg — will be critical. The Surge have found balance with center Javonte Brown providing interior presence; Brown grabbed 11 rebounds in the win over the Sea Bears.
Saskatoon will look to Jones and Dunn-Martin to spark an early road response. The Mamba’s defense, which surrendered 115 points to Edmonton on June 24, will need to contain Joplin and a Calgary offense averaging 88.1 points per game over its last five.
Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. MDT. Calgary then hosts Fraser Valley on Tuesday before a road trip to Edmonton. Saskatoon travels to Fraser Valley on July 25.
