GUANARE, Venezuela (Interstat) — The Falcons defeated Portuguesa 89-79 on Wednesday, May 6, in Venezuelan SLB action. The visitors led 23-22 after the first quarter but trailed 45-41 at halftime. Portuguesa extended its advantage to 63-60 entering the fourth quarter before the Falcons outscored the home team 29-16 in the final period.

Jared Cunningham led the Falcons with 27 points and seven rebounds. The Falcons improved to 10-13 with the win.

Luis Martinez scored a game-high 31 points for Portuguesa, which fell to 4-19. Milos Petkovic posted 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Kelvin Pena added 19 points. Maodo Nguirane contributed nine points and seven rebounds for Portuguesa.

Falcons shot 48 percent from the floor and 35 percent from 3-point range, while Portuguesa shot 42 percent from the floor and 31 percent from beyond the arc. Falcons also hit 78 percent of their free throws.
