Avila vs. Miranda

MIRANDA, Venezuela (Interstat) — Avila visits Miranda on Thursday in a Venezuelan SLB matchup, with the visiting team riding a three-game winning streak while the home team seeks to halt a recent skid.

Avila enters the game with a 12-11 record across all competitions, having won three straight after a 91-88 victory Monday at Car. Spartans. Miranda carries a 7-14 mark and has lost eight of its last 10, including an 80-104 defeat Tuesday at Maracaibo.

Thursday’s game is the latest installment of a season series split evenly. Miranda posted an 81-72 home win over Avila on April 4, but Avila responded with an 85-62 victory on April 12.

A key player to watch for Avila is guard Heissler Guillen, who has been productive during the winning streak. In Monday’s win, Guillen logged 31 minutes and recorded 19 points and 12 assists. Over his last three games, he has averaged 13.0 points and 9.0 assists while shooting efficiently. For the season, Guillen has demonstrated playmaking consistency, dishing out double-digit assists in four of his last seven contests.

Miranda will look to wing Ar’mond Davis to spark the offense. Davis scored 30 points in Tuesday’s loss to Maracaibo, playing 37 minutes and adding six rebounds. He has been a high-volume scorer this month, reaching at least 18 points in five of his last six games. However, Miranda will need more production around him after allowing 104 points in its most recent outing.

Avila’s supporting cast includes forward Jarell Eddie, who posted 20 points and six rebounds Monday, and guard Brevin Galloway, who added 19 points. Miranda received 10 points and 12 rebounds from guard Delwan Graham and six points and five assists from point guard Edry Gonzalez in the loss to Maracaibo.

Avila will aim to extend its winning streak before traveling to Aragua for games Friday and Saturday. Miranda will look to build momentum ahead of a road game at Portuguesa on Saturday.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time.
