Carabobo vs. La Guaira
Hot-Shooting Carabobo Visits Struggling La Guaira in SLB Clash
CARACAS, Venezuela (Interstat) — The surging Carabobo Trotamundos, led by the league’s hottest scorer, visit the slumping La Guaira on Thursday in a Venezuelan SLB matchup with clear playoff implications.
Carabobo (12-7) enters on a high note, coming off a dominant 92-74 victory over Avila on Tuesday. The Trotamundos have won five of their last seven games. La Guaira (6-10), meanwhile, has lost three of its last four and seeks consistency after a 95-90 road win at Maracaibo on Tuesday snapped a brief skid.
The spotlight will be on Carabobo forward James Reese V, who is in the midst of a spectacular offensive run. He exploded for 39 points in just 30 minutes in Tuesday’s win, marking his fourth game with 21 or more points in his last five outings. Over that stretch, he is averaging 26.2 points per game.
La Guaira will counter with forward Jordan Hamilton, a consistent all-around threat. Hamilton is averaging a double-double over his last seven games, posting 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per contest during that span. He recorded 24 points and nine rebounds in a win over Miranda earlier this month.
The teams last met on March 20, with Carabobo securing an 86-69 home victory. The Trotamundos’ balanced attack that night overwhelmed La Guaira.
Current form heavily favors the visitors. Carabobo boasts a winning record on the road this season and possesses the league’s most dynamic individual scorer in Reese. La Guaira has struggled to defend its home court, with a 3-5 record in its own building.
A Carabobo win would solidify its position in the upper tier of the standings, while La Guaira desperately needs a victory to halt its slide and keep its postseason hopes viable.
Tip-off is set for Thursday night at Domo José María Vargas in La Guaira.
