Winnipeg vs. Fraser Valley
LANGLEY, British Columbia (Interstat) — The Winnipeg Sea Bears visit the Fraser Valley Bandits on Sunday in a Canadian Elite Basketball League matchup at Langley Events Centre.
Both teams enter with 0-0 records, though the clubs have already logged meaningful minutes this summer. Winnipeg comes off a 100-92 home win over Ottawa on Friday. Fraser Valley last played Tuesday, falling 82-87 at Montreal.
Winnipeg forward Jeremiah Tilmon is a player to watch. In the Sea Bears’ win over Ottawa, he played 32 minutes and posted 22 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists and six blocks. Tilmon has been inconsistent in other recent outings: He scored four points in a July 25 loss to Hamilton, 12 against Fraser Valley on July 23, and 16 in a win over Montreal on July 19. He also had a 13-point, 10-rebound effort in a July 12 loss to Calgary.
The Bandits counter with guard Shamar Givance. In Fraser Valley’s last game at Montreal, Givance played 36 minutes and finished with 25 points, eight rebounds and five assists. He had nine points and eight assists in a July 25 win over Saskatoon, and 10 points, five rebounds and four assists in a July 23 victory at Winnipeg. Givance also scored 20 points in a July 11 win at Edmonton.
Sunday’s game marks the teams’ second meeting in about 10 days. Fraser Valley beat Winnipeg 92-77 in Winnipeg on July 23. The Bandits could lean on that result, while the Sea Bears look to build off their strong finish against Ottawa.
The game will be held at Langley Events Centre in Langley, British Columbia. Tipoff time was not announced.
