Fraser Valley vs. Calgary
CALGARY, Alberta (Interstat) — The Fraser Valley Bandits visit the Calgary Surge on Tuesday night at WinSport Event Centre in a Canadian Elite Basketball League matchup with playoff implications.
Fraser Valley (15-8) holds the league’s second-best record and is coming off a dramatic 93-92 home win over Montreal on July 17. Center Tyrese Samuel logged 24 points, eight rebounds and six assists in that victory. The Bandits have won two of their last three games, but both losses during that stretch came against Calgary.
Calgary (12-14) has won three of its last four after defeating Winnipeg 93-85 on July 17. Guard Sean Miller-Moore led the way with 20 points and five rebounds. The Surge have been inconsistent but have found success against Fraser Valley, taking the last two meetings: a 95-80 home win on July 9 and a 92-84 road victory on July 5.
Samuel has been a force for the Bandits, averaging 17.2 points and 8.3 rebounds over his last six games. In the July 9 loss at Calgary, he was limited to 13 points and four rebounds. Miller-Moore has averaged 13.8 points and 4.2 rebounds in his last five outings and posted nine points and six boards in the July 9 win.
The series is tied 2-2 over the past two seasons, but Calgary has the momentum. Tuesday’s game also kicks off a busy week for both teams: Fraser Valley travels to Winnipeg on Thursday, while Calgary hosts Edmonton on Friday.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. MDT.
