Caguas vs. Santurce
CAGUAS, SANTURCE SEEK EARLY MOMENTUM IN BSN CLASH
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (Interstat) — The Caguas and Santurce Cangrejeros basketball teams will meet Tuesday at Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in an early-season BSN matchup with both clubs looking to establish their form.
The game, scheduled for March 31, 2026, pits a Caguas squad (1-0) riding high after a dramatic opening win against Santurce (0-1), which is eager to rebound on its home floor.
Caguas arrives after a thrilling 99-98 overtime victory over Ponce on Saturday. Forward Louis King was instrumental in that win, posting a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds in 38 minutes of action. He will be a primary focus for Santurce’s defense. King received strong support from guard Travis Trice, who added 23 points and seven assists, and center Alexander Kappos, who contributed 12 points and eight rebounds.
Santurce, meanwhile, looks to shake off an 88-93 road loss to Guaynabo last Friday. The Cangrejeros will aim to leverage home-court advantage to correct their course and hand Caguas its first defeat.
The contest marks the first of three regular-season meetings between the teams this season. They are scheduled to play again in Caguas on April 2 and April 15, adding a layer of immediate rivalry to this early clash.
For Caguas, maintaining the offensive efficiency shown in their opener, particularly from King, will be key. For Santurce, tightening its defense after allowing 93 points in its first outing is likely a priority.
The game tips off a critical stretch for both teams. Following Tuesday’s matchup, Caguas will host Santurce again on Thursday before a game against Aguada on April 5. Santurce’s schedule remains road-heavy, with a visit to San German slated for April 7 after the quick rematch with Caguas.
Tuesday’s result will provide an early indicator of trajectory for two teams with contrasting initial outcomes.
