Winnipeg vs. Calgary

CALGARY, Alberta (Interstat) — The Winnipeg Sea Bears visit the Calgary Surge on Sunday, June 14, 2026, in a Canadian Elite Basketball League matchup at WinSport Event Centre. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. local time.

Winnipeg (6-7) enters the game after a 97-91 loss at Montreal on June 5, its third defeat in four contests. The Sea Bears are tied for fifth in the nine-team league but have dropped four of their past six overall. Calgary (7-9) is coming off a 94-88 home loss to Saskatoon on June 10, its seventh loss in eight games. The Surge sit seventh in the standings.

The teams last met Aug. 22, 2025, with Calgary winning 90-79 in Calgary. The Sea Bears and Surge played to a 0-0 scoreline Friday, though that result was likely a cancellation or postponement, as no stats were recorded.

Winnipeg forward Teddy Allen has been a scoring machine, averaging 28.6 points over his past seven games. In his most recent outing at Montreal, Allen played 34 minutes and totaled 33 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. He also notched 32 points and 12 boards in a 117-88 win at Ottawa on June 4. The 6-foot-6 swingman has scored at least 22 points in every game since May 16.

Calgary center Javonte Brown has been a force inside despite the Surge’s struggles. Brown posted 15 points and nine rebounds in the loss to Saskatoon on June 10, playing only 17 minutes due to foul trouble. He had a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds at Scarborough on June 6. The 6-foot-10 big man has recorded at least 15 points and nine rebounds in two of his last three games.

In Winnipeg’s loss at Montreal, guard Trey McGowens added 18 points and seven assists, while forward Simon Hildebrandt contributed 12 points and eight rebounds. For Calgary in its loss to Saskatoon, guard Evan Gilyard had 17 points and 10 assists, and forward Sean Miller-Moore scored 19 points.

The Sea Bears have struggled on the road, going 2-5 away from home this season. Calgary has a 4-4 home record.

Winnipeg will host Fraser Valley on June 18 after Sunday’s game. Calgary hosts Hamilton on June 17.

Sunday’s contest marks the second of four meetings between the two Alberta rivals this season. They also play July 12 in Winnipeg and July 17 in Calgary.
