Fraser Valley vs. Edmonton
EDMONTON (Interstat) — The Canadian Elite Basketball League schedule brings a pivotal rematch Saturday as the Edmonton Stingers host the Fraser Valley Bandits at Edmonton Expo Centre.
Fraser Valley (13-7) enters the 7 p.m. MDT tipoff holding the superior record, while Edmonton (9-11) seeks to build momentum after a narrow 94-93 victory against the Bandits on July 3. That result snapped a two-game head-to-head losing streak for the Stingers, who also fell 111-88 at Fraser Valley on May 22.
Bandits guard Tevin Brown has been a consistent offensive force. In his last outing Tuesday, a 92-85 win at Winnipeg, Brown logged 38 minutes and posted 28 points, six rebounds and three assists. He also recorded 19 points and seven rebounds during the July 3 loss to Edmonton. Over his past four games, Brown is averaging 20.5 points.
Edmonton counters with forward Tre King, who contributed 10 points and three rebounds in 13 minutes during the July 3 win at Fraser Valley. King posted 18 points and seven rebounds in the Stingers’ 100-98 loss to Winnipeg on July 5.
The Stingers have dropped two of their last three games overall. Edmonton’s most productive performance in the July 5 loss came from Emmanuel Bandoumel (17 points), Nick Hornsby (16 points) and King.
Fraser Valley has won four of its last six games. Center Tyrese Samuel added 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocks in the Bandits’ win Tuesday, while point guard John Knight contributed nine points and eight rebounds.
The game is part of a back-to-back stretch for Edmonton, which travels to Scarborough on July 16. Fraser Valley returns home July 17 to face Montreal.
