Calgary vs. Edmonton

EDMONTON, AB (Interstat) — The Calgary Surge visit the Edmonton Stingers on Wednesday at Edmonton Expo Center in a Canadian Elite Basketball League matchup.

Calgary (8-12) sits near the bottom of the CEBL standings, having lost its most recent game 93-88 to Montreal on June 20. The Surge have dropped eight of their last 10 contests, including a 107-88 home loss to Winnipeg on June 14 and a 104-98 defeat at the hands of Edmonton on May 31 in Calgary.

The Surge will rely on guard Armani Chaney, who posted 17 points and seven assists in that loss to Montreal. In a 102-99 win over Hamilton on June 17, Chaney recorded 16 points, three rebounds and five assists. He has been a consistent contributor, though Calgary has struggled to close games.

Edmonton (7-10) snapped a three-game skid with a 105-103 win over Saskatoon on June 28 at home. The Stingers had lost four of five before that victory, including a 107-86 defeat at Winnipeg on June 20 and a 95-76 loss to Montreal on June 17.

Forward Nick Hornsby leads Edmonton’s attack. In the win over Saskatoon, he produced 30 points and 11 rebounds. Two nights earlier, Hornsby posted 25 points and 11 assists in a 115-108 victory at Saskatoon. He struggled earlier in the month, managing seven points against Montreal on June 17 and eight points against Scarborough on June 13.

In the teams’ most recent meeting, Edmonton won 104-98 on May 31 at Calgary. The Surge won the previous matchup, 103-95, on Aug. 14, 2025, at home.

Calgary enters the game with key contributors Javonte Brown at center and Sean Miller-Moore at small forward. Brown had 11 points and five rebounds against Montreal, while Miller-Moore added 17 points and eight rebounds.

Edmonton features guard Taye Donald, who tallied 15 points and seven assists against Saskatoon, and guard Stanley Davis, who scored 21 points in that win.

The game is part of a four-game series between the Alberta rivals this season. The teams will meet again in Calgary on July 24 and in Edmonton on July 26.

Wednesday’s tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time.
