Winnipeg vs. Fraser Valley
LANGLEY, British Columbia (Interstat) — The Canadian Elite Basketball League’s top two teams collide Saturday when the Fraser Valley Bandits host the Winnipeg Sea Bears at Langley Events Centre.
Fraser Valley (11-5) carries the best record in the league into the 7 p.m. tipoff, while Winnipeg (10-7) sits a half-game behind in the standings. The Bandits are coming off a 102-81 victory over Hamilton on June 20, a game in which forward Mitchell Creek posted 26 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Creek has been a consistent force, also recording 29 points and seven rebounds in a 108-105 loss to Scarborough on June 15.
Winnipeg enters on a three-game winning streak, most recently beating Edmonton 107-86 on June 20. Forward Teddy Allen led the Sea Bears with 25 points and seven rebounds in that contest, continuing a torrid stretch. Over his last seven games, Allen has averaged 29.1 points and 7.0 rebounds, including a 36-point, 12-rebound outburst against Fraser Valley on June 18 — a 114-81 Winnipeg victory.
That result was the most recent meeting between the teams this season. In the earlier matchup, on Aug. 3, 2025, Fraser Valley won 106-74 at home. Saturday’s game will be the second of three regular-season meetings; the Bandits travel to Winnipeg on July 23.
The Bandits have won five of their last six games overall. Guard Jarkel Joiner added 22 points and eight assists in the win over Hamilton, while center Tyrese Samuel contributed 18 points and 10 rebounds. Fraser Valley’s only loss in that span was the 33-point defeat in Winnipeg.
Winnipeg’s depth has been evident. Guard Trey McGowens flirted with a triple-double against Edmonton with 14 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists, and guard Isiah Osborne scored 22 points in the same game. The Sea Bears have won six of their last eight contests, with their only losses coming by narrow margins at Montreal (97-91) and at Saskatoon (100-98).
Both teams sit atop the CEBL standings, making Saturday’s matchup critical for playoff positioning. Winnipeg will look to exploit its size advantage inside, with Allen averaging 12.3 rebounds over the last three games, while Fraser Valley will lean on Creek’s versatility and the ball-handling of Joiner.
The game is the first of a three-game homestand for the Bandits, who host Edmonton on July 3 and Calgary on July 5. Winnipeg heads to Saskatoon on June 30 before a road trip to Edmonton on July 5.
