Tijuana vs. Culiacan

Preview: Tijuana Zonkeys at Culiacan Caballeros

CULIACAN, Mexico (Interstat) — A clash of teams on opposite trajectories will unfold Sunday when the surging Tijuana Zonkeys visit the struggling Culiacan Caballeros in a Mexican CIBACOPA matchup at Polideportivo Juan S. Millan.

The Zonkeys (11-5) enter riding a four-game winning streak and sit among the league’s top teams. They are coming off a dominant 109-89 road victory over Venados on Wednesday, led by guard Shane Rector’s 22 points and seven assists. Rector has been a catalyst, averaging 19.3 points and 4.3 assists over his last three contests, including a 37-point outburst on March 3.

Conversely, the Caballeros (4-10) have lost eight of their last ten games. Their most recent result was a narrow 89-87 win at Guaymas on March 14, powered by a season-high 30 points from forward Ralph Bissainthe. Consistency has been an issue for Bissainthe and Culiacan; the team has allowed 100 or more points in six of its losses this season.

This game is the second of a back-to-back set between the clubs, following a Saturday matchup. The result of that contest will set the tone for this Sunday affair.

For Tijuana, maintaining offensive efficiency will be key. Alongside Rector, Alex Williams (18 points, five assists vs. Venados) and Jabari Narcis (15 points, 12 rebounds) provide balanced scoring. Culiacan will need another high-level performance from Bissainthe and support from guards like Roddy Peters to keep pace.

The schedule offers little respite for either side afterward. Tijuana embarks on a two-game road trip at Guasave next week, while Culiacan travels to face the Jalisco Astros.

Tip-off is set for Sunday, March 22, 2026, in Culiacan.
