Osasco Basquete vs. Mogi das Cruzes
Preview: Osasco Basquete at Mogi das Cruzes
MOJI DAS CRUZES, Brazil (Interstat) — A clash between teams at opposite ends of the NBB standings unfolds Friday when the struggling Osasco Basquete visits playoff-positioned Mogi das Cruzes.
The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. local time at Ginásio Municipal Professor Hugo Ramos.
Mogi das Cruzes (20-14) enters the matchup firmly in the postseason hunt and riding the momentum of an 87-82 road victory over Corinthians last Friday. Center Duane Johnson powered that win with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. His consistency will be key; in his last three games, he has averaged 11 points and 8 rebounds.
Osasco Basquete (6-30) is anchored to the bottom of the league but is coming off a rare bright spot: a 77-68 home win over Pato Basquete on April 11. That victory snapped a five-game losing streak. The team is almost entirely dependent on the spectacular scoring of guard Anthony Harris, who erupted for 36 points in that win. Over his last four games, Harris has averaged 25.5 points, 5.5 assists and 3.8 rebounds, including a near triple-double of 25 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists in a loss to Corinthians on April 7.
The season series has been decidedly one-sided. In their only previous meeting this NBB season, Mogi das Cruzes routed Osasco 93-68 on Dec. 4, 2025.
For Mogi, the formula is straightforward: leverage its superior record and depth to contain Harris and capitalize on Osasco’s league-worst defense. For Osasco, any hope of an upset rests on another heroic performance from Harris and replicating the defensive effort that led to its win last weekend.
The home team will be heavily favored, but Osasco’s recent win provides a glimmer of hope in an otherwise dismal campaign.
