Paraiba vs. Minas
BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil (Interstat) — A surging Minas team, among the elite of the Brazilian Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), will host a struggling Paraiba squad seeking an upset when the teams meet Sunday at Arena Vivo.
Minas (31-11) enters on a four-game winning streak and boasts one of the league’s best records. Paraiba (14-18) has lost three of its last four, including a 70-80 home defeat to Caxias Do Sul on Thursday. The matchup is a stark contrast in momentum and positioning.
The teams last met on Dec. 29, 2025, with Minas escaping with a 107-102 overtime road victory. To reverse that result, Paraiba will need a strong performance from forward Victor Leal. He is coming off a near double-double of 12 points and nine rebounds in 24 minutes against Caxias Do Sul and has averaged 9.0 points and 6.6 rebounds over his last seven games. His interior presence will be critical against a deep Minas frontcourt.
Minas is powered by guard Ricardo Fischer, who is playing at an exceptional level. In his last four games, all wins, Fischer has averaged 13.5 points and 6.0 assists in just over 19 minutes per game. His efficiency was on full display in a 106-71 rout of Botafogo on Thursday, where he scored 19 points with six rebounds and five assists in only 16 minutes of action.
Paraiba’s recent road form has been inconsistent, with wins at Osasco Basquete and Corinthians mixed with narrow losses at Pinheiros and Bauru. Minas has been dominant at home and on the road, with its last loss coming at Pinheiros on March 24.
The game tips off at 6:10 p.m. local time. Paraiba travels to face Cruzeiro on Tuesday, while Minas will host Cearense the same night.
