Independiente vs. Obera

Preview: Independiente Visits Obera in Key Liga A Matchup

OBERA, Argentina (Interstat) — A pivotal Liga A clash is set for Friday when the surging Independiente travels to face Obera at OTC.

Independiente (16-7 overall) enters on a two-game winning streak, most recently defeating Regatas Corrientes 89-83 on March 12. Obera (18-10), which holds a better record, is coming off an 84-80 home victory over Ferro Carril Oeste on Tuesday.

The matchup features two of the league’s in-form forwards. Independiente will rely on Agustin Caffaro, who is averaging 15.3 points and 6.3 rebounds over his last three games, including a 16-point, 7-rebound performance against Regatas. Obera counters with Daviyon Draper, who is averaging 17.3 points in his last three outings and posted 21 points and five rebounds in the win over Ferro.

The teams’ most recent meeting was a classic, with Obera edging Independiente 84-83 on the road last Nov. 1.

Independiente has won seven of its last ten games but has shown vulnerability on the road this season. Obera has been strong at home, winning three of its last four at OTC, including the recent victory over Ferro.

A key battle will be inside, where Independiente’s Caffaro will contend with Obera’s productive frontcourt of Draper and center Will Vorhees, who had 15 points and seven rebounds last game.

The contest is crucial for positioning in the Liga A table as the season progresses. For Independiente, it’s a chance to prove its mettle against a top-tier opponent on the road. For Obera, it’s an opportunity to solidify its standing and defend its home court.

Following this game, Independiente hosts Peñarol on March 27. Obera’s next matchup is at home against Boca Juniors on March 25.
