Ferro Carril Oeste vs. Sante Fe
SANTA FE, Argentina (Interstat) — A surging Ferro Carril Oeste looks to continue its push up the Argentinian Liga A standings when it visits struggling Sante Fe on Wednesday at Angel P. Malvicino.
The visitors (18-14) enter on a strong run, having won three of their last four games, including an impressive 90-81 road victory over Boca Juniors on Saturday. Forward Leonel Valentin Bettiga has been instrumental, averaging 11.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists over his last seven contests. He posted 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the win over Boca.
In contrast, Sante Fe (10-20) is mired in a six-game losing streak. Its last win came on March 18 against Argentino de Junin. Guard Martin Cabrera has been a bright spot during the skid, scoring 18 and 19 points in his last two outings, but the team has consistently fallen short in close games, including an 83-85 loss to Peñarol on April 4.
The season series favors Ferro Carril Oeste, which defeated Sante Fe 98-86 in Buenos Aires on Dec. 3, 2025. Ferro’s balanced attack, which also features Facundo Pinero and Felipe Rodriguez, will test a Sante Fe defense that has allowed an average of 88.2 points during its current losing streak.
For Sante Fe, stopping Bettiga and generating consistent offense outside of Cabrera will be critical. Emiliano Basabe and Franco Balbi provided scoring support in the last game, but the team needs sustained defensive effort to snap its slide.
A win would solidify Ferro Carril Oeste’s position in the upper half of the league, while Sante Fe desperately needs a victory to halt its decline and spark a late-season turnaround. Tipoff is set for Wednesday night in Santa Fe.
