San Lorenzo vs. Racing de Chiv

Preview: San Lorenzo at Racing de Chiv

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Interstat) — Two struggling Liga A sides seeking momentum will meet Sunday when San Lorenzo visits Racing de Chiv.

The matchup features teams at the bottom of the league table. San Lorenzo (13-17 overall) arrives with a slight edge in the standings over Racing de Chiv (10-20), but both have endured difficult seasons. The home side will look to avenge an 85-83 road loss to San Lorenzo from Oct. 30, 2025, in the teams’ most recent head-to-head meeting.

San Lorenzo is coming off a 81-73 home loss to Gimnasia Indalo on March 30. In that defeat, guard Facundo Rutemberg led the team with 17 points in 25 minutes. Rutemberg, a key player to watch, also contributed three rebounds and three assists. His backcourt play will be critical for a San Lorenzo team that has shown sporadic offensive efficiency, scoring 80 or more points in three of its last five games but also being held under 75 in the other two.

Racing de Chiv is looking to bounce back from a heartbreaking 90-89 overtime road loss to Platense on March 31. In that contest, forward Manuel Rodriguez Ortega posted 13 points and seven rebounds in 30 minutes. Rodriguez Ortega has been a consistent interior presence, averaging 8.0 points and 4.5 rebounds over his last four games, a stretch where Racing de Chiv went 3-1 before the Platense defeat.

The game presents a contrast in recent form. San Lorenzo has lost four of its last six, while Racing de Chiv had won three straight prior to its last-second overtime loss. Home-court advantage could be a factor for Racing, which has recent home wins over San Martin and Quimsa this month.

For San Lorenzo, secondary scoring behind Rutemberg will be vital. Center Kevin Hernandez, who had 19 points against Gimnasia Indalo, provides an interior option. Racing de Chiv will rely on the scoring balance seen against Platense, where Nicolas Romano dropped 22 points and Thomas Cooper nearly had a triple-double.

Tip-off is set for Sunday, April 12, at Racing de Chiv’s home arena. Both teams have a quick turnaround, with San Lorenzo playing at Argentino de Junin on Tuesday and Racing de Chiv hosting Regatas Corrientes next Friday.
