LA BANDA, Argentina (Interstat) — Edwin Mijares scored 23 points to lead Olimpico to an 86-81 victory over Quimsa in Argentinian Liga A basketball on Saturday.

Olimpico built a 53-44 halftime lead at Estadio Vicente Rosales behind a 31-point first quarter and held off a Quimsa rally. Dennis McKinney added 20 points for the hosts. Leonardo Lema scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Quimsa, which got 16 points from Diego Figueredo.

The win improved Olimpico’s record to 12-18. Quimsa, which entered as a heavy favorite according to statistical projections, fell to 19-9. The teams split their season series, with each winning on its home court.
