Atenas vs. Obras Sanitarias
Preview: Atenas Faces Obras Sanitarias in Liga A Clash
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Interstat) — A struggling Atenas squad visits Obras Sanitarias on Sunday in an Argentinian Liga A matchup, with the home team looking to solidify its standing against a club mired near the bottom of the table.
The game tips off at Estadio Obras Sanitarias on March 22.
Obras Sanitarias (17-14 across all competitions) enters with a clear record advantage over Atenas (8-18). The home team has dropped two straight, however, including an 85-93 road loss to Olimpico on Thursday. In that game, guard Ty Sabin led Obras with 23 points. Sabin has been a consistent scorer, averaging 18.5 points over his last two contests.
Atenas is riding a four-game losing streak and is 2-8 in its last 10 games. It fell 83-90 at Gimnasia Indalo on Wednesday. Forward Danjel Purifoy has been a bright spot during the skid, posting 19 points and nine rebounds in that loss and averaging 15 points and 8.5 rebounds over his last two outings.
The teams last met on Nov. 19, 2025, with Obras Sanitarias securing an 80-74 road victory.
For Atenas to pull an upset, it will need another major performance from Purifoy and must improve defensively after allowing an average of 94 points in its last two defeats. Obras Sanitarias will rely on Sabin’s perimeter scoring and aim to exploit its home court advantage to snap its brief slide.
Following this game, Obras Sanitarias hosts Argentino de Junin on March 25. Atenas returns home to face Instituto Cordoba on March 26.
