Independiente vs. Racing de Chiv

Preview: Independiente Looks to Continue Hot Streak Against Struggling Racing de Chiv

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Interstat) — A surging Independiente squad will visit a struggling Racing de Chiv team in a Liga A matchup on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Racing de Chiv Arena.

Independiente (14-6) enters the contest riding high after a dominant 103-75 victory over Sante Fe on Feb. 15. Guard Jose Rolfi Fortunato led the way with 19 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in that win, supported by 21 points from Francisco Conrradi. The team has won seven of its last nine games.

In stark contrast, Racing de Chiv (5-17) has lost three straight and 10 of its last 11. Its most recent outing was a narrow 77-74 road loss to Gimnasia Indalo on Feb. 18. The team has struggled to find consistent scoring and defense, allowing an average of 81.2 points per game during its current skid.

The season series stands at 1-0 in favor of Independiente following an 88-86 home win on Dec. 17, 2025. In that contest, Racing de Chiv kept it close but ultimately fell short.

For Independiente, the game represents a chance to solidify its position near the top of the league table against the last-place team. Key contributors Fortunato, Conrradi and Nicolas Marcucci, who had 17 points in the last game, will look to exploit a Racing de Chiv defense that has frequently conceded 90 points or more.

Racing de Chiv will need a significant performance from its top players, including Thomas Cooper, who scored 18 points in the last meeting with Independiente, and center Deion McClenton, to have a chance at the upset. The home team’s last victory was a Jan. 30 win over Olimpico.

Following this game, Independiente will travel to face Argentino de Junin on March 8. Racing de Chiv’s next contest is a road game at Ferro Carril Oeste on March 10.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. local time.
