Gimnasia Indalo vs. Olimpico

Preview: Gimnasia Indalo at Olimpico

LA BANDA, Argentina (Interstat) — A surging Gimnasia Indalo visits a struggling Olimpico in a Liga Nacional matchup Tuesday at Estadio Vicente Rosales.

The teams enter with contrasting momentum. Gimnasia Indalo (12-7) has won three of its last four games, including a 91-82 victory over Independiente on Jan. 27. Olimpico (8-13) has lost two of its last three, most recently falling 87-74 to Peñarol on Feb. 4.

Guard Emiliano Toretta leads Gimnasia Indalo’s backcourt, coming off a 20-point, 6-assist performance in the win over Independiente. Over his last four games, he is averaging 7.8 points and 3.0 assists. He is supported by center Bryan Carabali, who had 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks in that same game.

Olimpico will counter with forward Jose Ascanio, its most consistent recent performer. Ascanio is averaging 13.7 points and 5.4 rebounds over his last five contests. He posted an 18-point, 6-rebound line against Peñarol and recorded a double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds) in a win over Argentino de Junin on Feb. 1.

The home court has provided little advantage for Olimpico this season. Gimnasia Indalo, however, has shown potency on the road, securing key away wins at Boca Juniors and Platense in January.

This is the first meeting between the clubs this season. Gimnasia Indalo’s schedule shows a focus on maintaining its top-half standing, while Olimpico seeks to reverse its slide before a difficult upcoming road stretch.

Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. local time (0100 GMT Wednesday).
